Introduction
The Australian Rhododendron Society Victorian branch has its headquarters at Olinda in the Dandenong Ranges 40 km east of Melbourne. Members share an interest in, growing, promoting and learning more about Rhododendrons, Vireya, Azaleas and companion plants. We are affiliated with the national body and maintain links with overseas organisations.
Past members created the 40 Hectare National Rhododendron gardens at Olinda, displaying one of the most extensive and best collections of Rhododendrons in the country as well as a superb Botanical Garden in its own right. A Volunteer Group meets every Tuesday to continue work maintaining and developing these gardens.
Another major activity is the collection of new species and hybrids and propagation of Rhododendrons for sale at very attractive prices to members and others. Other activities include monthly meetings with interesting informative speakers, social functions, garden visits, a bimonthly newsletter and an annual journal plus the opportunity to meet and form friendships with like minded people.
Membership offers full access to all Society functions and plant sales plus free access to the National Rhododendron Gardens for the member plus one friend. New members are always very welcome, see our membership page.
